Robert van Galen:

Robert van Galen has been a lawyer as of 1985. From 1985 until 2024 he worked as a lawyer with the law firm NautaDutilh. He was a partner from 1994 until 2022. He is specialized in restructuring and insolvency and moreover in the broader civil litigation practice. Starting 1 January 2025 he has his own firm with the name Van Galen Insolvency Law.

  • Representative of the Netherlands in UNCITRAL Working Group V
  • Member of the Experts Committee which advises the European Commission on new legislation in the area of insolvency law
  • Editor of the magazine Ondernemingsrecht
  • Co-chair of the international committee of the American College of Bankruptcy

  • President INSOL Europe
  • President Practitioners Society (PraktizijnssociĆ«teit)
  • Board member of the Netherlands Association for Comparative and International Insolvency law
  • Member of the Bankruptcy Committee of the Dutch bar
  • Member of the subcommittee of the State committee on P.I.L. which advised the government on the introduction of the European Insolvency Regulation.
